Transcript: How to Correctly Place Baby in Car Seat
Hello, and welcome to Baby Trend. I'm Mia, and today I'll be showing you how to correctly place your baby in the CV89, otherwise known as the Cover Me. Ensure you have your car seat's manual handy in case you need to reference it at any point during this video.
Before we get started, check that the shoulder straps are located at the proper height for your baby. For rear facing, the proper height of the harness strap is at or just below the shoulders. For forward facing, the proper height of the harness strap is at or just above the shoulders. You'll also want to make sure the gap between the baby's thigh and the crotch buckle is between 1/2" to 1".
Start with locating the tension adjuster button under the fabric and above the harness tension strap. Now, you'll press the tension adjuster button while simultaneously pulling the harness straps towards you.
Next, you'll unclip the harness chest clips and set those aside. You'll also want to unclip the crotch buckle and set those aside as well. Place your baby in the car seat so that the baby's bottom is against the back and bottom of the car seat and ensure your baby isn't wearing any bulky clothing. You'll then place the harness straps over the shoulders, ensuring the no twist indicator stripes are facing outwards. Clip the crotch buckle back in, pulling up to confirm it's secured. Move the chest clips down.
This will keep them from the baby's face when you tighten the harness. Pull on the harness tension adjusting strap to tighten the harness. The harness should not allow for any slack or press on the baby's skin. Conduct a pinch test by attempting to pinch the harness webbing at your baby's shoulders. If you can pinch the strap then the harness must be tightened more. Repeat, until you can no longer pinch the strap.
Place the chest clips at armpit level and clip the tabs together. Pull outwards to confirm it's secured. Do not use head pillow if the baby's head falls forward. Do not use the head pillow above shoulder position 3. Only use body insert with children who weigh between 4-18 lbs. Harness covers are required for all harness modes except low birthweight routing.
Do not use bulky clothing under harness.

Transcript: How to Install In Rear Facing Using Lap Shoulder Belt
Hi, I'm Ryan, the product manager and CPST from Baby Trend, and today I'll be showing you how to install the Cover Me in rear facing mode using your vehicle's lap/shoulder belt.
First, make sure the harness height is at or below your baby's shoulders. Refer to your vehicle's manual to locate the proper installation position for your car seat. Place the car seat in the determined position in your vehicle. Locate the flip foot under the car seat. Press the blue release handle while rotating the flip foot out, making sure it has locked into place. Recline the car seat into one of the rear facing positions by squeezing the recline handle while adjusting the car seat.
Now, you'll make sure your car seat is leveled. Leveling the car seat correctly will keep your baby's head back and airway open. Check the bubble indicator to make sure the car seat is leveled. You can use the recline mechanism to recline the car seat further to assist with leveling. For more recline you can use a solid pool noodle or a towel under the car seat base to assist with leveling. I like to lift the car seat fabric to get better access to the belt path during installation.
Pull out as much of the seat belt webbing as possible, ensuring you have plenty of webbing to work with. Thread the seat belt webbing through the rear facing belt path making sure it lies flat and has no twists. Insert the seat belt buckle tongue into the receiving end and pull on the buckle to ensure it is secured. Press down on the car seat while simultaneously pulling on the seat belt in order to remove all slack.
To make sure that the seat is tight, grasp the belt path and move it side to side and front to back. If it moves less than an inch where the seat belt webbing meets the car seat, then you have a good installation.
Once you have secured your baby, check the bubble indicator again to confirm the angle is still appropriate. And now you're ready to go!

Transcript: How to Install In Forward Facing Using LATCH
Hi, I'm Ryan, the product manager and CPST from Baby Trend, and today I'll be showing you how to install the Cover Me in forward facing using LATCH.
First, make sure the harness height on the car seat is at or above the child's shoulders. Unclip the top tether from the storage position on the car seat and place over the headrest. Unclip the LATCH connectors from their storage positions on the car seat. Make sure LATCH is threaded through the forward facing belt path.
Refer to your vehicle's manual to locate the proper LATCH position and LATCH anchors. This is where you'll be installing your car seat. Place the car seat in the determined position in your vehicle. Make sure your car seat is reclined to one of the forward facing positions by squeezing the recline handle while adjusting the car seat. You can loosen the LATCH webbing in order to facilitate the installation. Depending on your model, you may have quick release connectors or J-hooks.
Now, clip the LATCH connectors onto your vehicle's LATCH anchors. If you have the quick release connectors make sure that the indicator window turns green. Confirm they are firmly attached by pulling outward on the connectors. I like to lift the car seat fabric to get better access to the belt path during installation. Thread the loose webbing through this path to make sure you get a proper angle for tightening. You should pull on the webbing ends following the same angle as the installed webbing.
Proper installation using LATCH requires that the LATCH webbing be very tight, so now, you'll use either your knee or hand to press down hard on the car seat while pulling towards the car seat on the webbing ends. Now, you'll attach the top tether onto your vehicle's tether anchor and pull it to confirm it's firmly attached. Pull on the free end of the top tether webbing in the direction of the installed webbing until all slack is removed.
To make sure that the seat is tight, grasp the belt path and move it side to side and front to back. If it moves less than an inch where the LATCH webbing meets the car seat, then you have a good installation. And now you're ready to go!

Transcript: How to Install in Forward Facing using Lap Shoulder Belt
Hello, and welcome to Baby Trend. I'm Mia, and today I'll be showing you how to install the CV89, otherwise known as the Cover Me, in forward facing mode using your vehicle's lap and shoulder belt. Before starting, make sure you have your car seat manual and your vehicle manual on hand in case you need to reference it at any point during this video.
Ensure your vehicle is on leveled ground. Your car seat should be installed on rear seats whenever possible. Your child must fit the following requirements in order to use this car seat in a front facing position: weight 30-65 lbs, height up to 50", and at least 2 years old.
First, check that the LATCH system is stored in its designated area. Remove the head pillow and body insert and store for future use. Place the car seat in the designated vehicle location in one of the forward facing positions. Forward facing positions include 4 and 5. Never use base positions 1, 2, or 3 in forward facing position. Detach the top tether and place it on the headrest.
Lift the seat back fabric to expose the forward facing belt path. Pull out as much of the seat belt webbing as possible, ensuring you have plenty of webbing to work with. Locate the forward facing belt path. Thread the seat belt through the forward facing belt path. Insert the seat belt buckle tongue into the receiving end. Pull up on the buckle to ensure it is secure.
The seat belt webbing should lie flat with no twists. Return the seat back fabric to its original position. Press down on the car seat while simultaneously pulling on the seat belt in order to remove all slack. Test for movement in the car seat at the forward facing belt path. The car seat should not move more than 1". If there is more than 1" of movement, repeat the tightening process until there is no more than 1" of movement.
If your vehicle is not equipped with a lockable retractor seat belt, you must use a locking clip. To acquire an approved locking clip, contact us at Baby Trend with the number listed on your manual.
To install the locking clip, maintain downward pressure on the car seat while holding on to tightened lap and shoulder webbing together just above the buckle to prevent it from moving. Unbuckle the seat belt, being careful to prevent movement on the webbing. Insert the locking clip, securing both the lap webbing and the shoulder webbing together. The locking clip should sit 1/2" from the buckle. Insert the seat belt buckle tongue into the receiving end. Pull up on the buckle to ensure it is secured.
Refer to your vehicle's manual in order to locate your vehicle's tether anchor. If available, attach the top tether to your vehicle's tether anchor. Ensure the tether hooks and locks onto your vehicle's tether anchor. Pull on the free end of the top tether strap until the slack is removed from the top tether. Test for movement in the car seat at the forward facing belt path. The car seat should not move more than 1".
If there is more than 1" of movement, repeat the tightening process until there is no more than 1" of movement.

Start with reclining the car seat to position 1. Remove the head pillow, and store it for future use.
Now, you'll press the tension adjuster button, while simultaneously pulling the harness straps towards you. Next, you'll unclip the harness chest clips and set those aside. You'll also want to unclip the crotch buckle and set those aside as well. From the back side of the seat, unfasten the harness end loops from the metal splitter plate. Pull the harness through the seat. Remove the harness covers from the harness.
Locate the tab under the cupholder. Press the tab against the outer car seat wall and pull up on the cupholder simultaneously to release the cupholders. Remove the chest clip and the buckle tongue from the harness on the baby's left side, and set those aside. Remove the body insert.
Next, lift the seat fabric and pull the buckle through. Dethread the harness through the seat fabric. Locate the anchor under the seat fabric.
Now, thread the anchor through the seat and back up to release. There is a belt shortening clip used only for babies weighing 4-10 lbs and if the gap between the buckle and the baby's thigh is not between 1/2"-1".
To acquire an approved belt shortening clip, contact us at Baby Trend with the number listed on your manual. To adjust the crotch buckle length using the belt shortening clip, you'll start with the released crotch buckle. Thread the anchor through position 1. From the bottom, thread the shortening clip through the opening closest to the buckle. The shortening clip should go in one side about half way through. Ensure the belt goes in the shortening clip's openings on either side.
Finish pushing the shortening clip through the opening. From the other side, push the belt in until it's able to go into the other side of the shortening clip's openings. The shortening clip should fit snugly in the first pocket below the buckle with the openings holding the belt on either side.
Now, thread the anchor back up through position 2. Completely remove the harness by pulling it through to the other side.
Now, you'll rethread the harness through the seat slots. The harness should go through the seat slots in the following path [shown in the video]. Ensure the webbing indicator stripe is on the bottom, and the harness is running behind the recline mechanism. Ensure the harness straps are even. If the harness straps are uneven, simply pull on the shorter one to even them out. Thread the harness straps through the innermost slots on the seat fabric.
Push the buckle back through the fabric, and fit the fabric back on the seat. Locate the blue headrest adjuster buttons and squeeze. Place the headrest at position 3. Install the body insert and thread the harness straps through the inner slots on the body insert's bottom. Ensure that the no twist indicator stripes are on the outer edges and insert the buckle tongue and the chest clip back onto the baby's left side harness strap.
Once again, make sure that the no twist indicator stripes are on the outer edges and thread the harness through the appropriate slot on the seat fabric and the seat back, including the body insert if necessary. For rear facing, the proper height of the harness strap is at or just below the shoulders. Using Loop A, fasten the harness metal splitter plate behind the seat. Fold the remaining harness over and fasten.
To install the cupholders, look at the markings under the cupholders to ensure the proper placement. Letters should be in their respective sides and arrows should be facing forward. Align the cupholder tab with the cupholder receptacle and press it into place. Pull up to ensure the cupholder is secured. Do not use harness covers with low birth weight routing. Do not use the head pillow with low birth weight routing.
Seat fabric body insert is not required for low birth weight routing. Store body insert, head pillow, and harness covers in a dry, cool place.

Transcript: How to Install in Rear Facing Using LATCH
Hi, I'm Ryan, the product manager and CPST from Baby Trend, and today I'll be showing you how to install the Cover Me in rear facing mode using LATCH.
First, make sure the harness height is at or below your baby's shoulders. Locate the LATCH connectors in their storage positions and unclip them. Make sure LATCH webbing is threaded through the rear facing belt path.
Refer to your vehicle's manual to locate the proper LATCH position and LATCH anchors. This is where you'll be installing your car seat.
Now, place the car seat in the determined position in your vehicle.
You can now loosen the LATCH webbing in order to facilitate the installation. Depending on your model, you may have quick release connectors or J-hooks. Clip both LATCH connectors onto your vehicle's LATCH anchors. If you have the quick release connectors make sure that the indicator window turns green. Confirm they are firmly attached by pulling outward on the connectors. I like to thread the loose webbing through the belt path to make sure that it gets a proper angle for tightening.
Proper installation using LATCH requires that the LATCH webbing be very tight, so now, you'll press down hard on the car seat while pulling towards the car seat on the webbing ends. To make sure that the seat is tight, grasp the belt path and move it side to side and front to back. If it moves less than an inch where the LATCH webbing meets the car seat, then you have a good installation.
Once you have secured your baby, check the bubble indicator again to confirm the angle is still appropriate. And now you're ready to go!
